1998   Husband and wife team Corey & LaQuita Marie Staten founded Atumpan-The Talking Drums to present interactive education through storytelling

 2003   Ongoing residencies, musical training, historical studies, theatrical training  while touring museums, libraries, K-12 schools, universities, festivals, and conferences

2006   Corey and LaQuita termed the Dynamic Duo by historians and professors; Atumpan Edutainment  became the parent company

2011   Annual Kwanzaa show: a stageplay production that encourages and allows people of all ethnicities and preferences to attend as well as perform

2012   Atumpan Dance Theatre was started while at the Attucks Theatre (2012-2017) as Atumpan African Dance, ACT Dance Theatre, then  Atumpan Dance Theatre in 2019

2016   Atumpan Edutainment became incorporated as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization

2017  Atumpan Dance Theatre classes at the Fred Heutte Center (Ghent section of Norfolk) and the Kroc Center of Hampton Roads
