Nigerian food, Nigerian people, and Nigerian fashions made for a rather fantastic event surrounding an intriguing culture on January 15, 2016. The mix of guests from various cultures and backgrounds purchased tickets to engage in an evening of Nigerian style goodness. Guest performers were Orisirisi African Folklore, an ensemble featuring a American husband and Nigerian wife duo who have performed around the world, across the United States, and several years at Disney World. Don and Adetutu took their place on the red carpet for several pictures before dancing and mingling to the Nigerian music mix provided by DJ Seko, owner of Positive Vibes Entertainment.
Opening and closing performances by the Atumpan African Dance & Drum Ensemble included a welcome, a dance of strength, and a dance to honor the griot or the storyteller. Dancers doubled as models for the fashion show in a stunning display of trendy evening wear. Capturing the entire night on film and photos were Jonathan Slayton and Michael Edmonds of Edmonds Fotografia.
Guests explored the marketplace of Nigerian cuisine, which included Chef D's Tastee Sauce. In addition the Nigerian caterer, Chef D attended the gala with his savory and spicy red sauce as a sample in a flavorful baked creation that everyone raved about.
